Many of us are now finding ourselves working from home more often than usual, or even for the first time!

While working from home can have many benefits, if you are lacking a good, ergonomic space to work in, this can be a real downside. But fear not- with our top tips you’ll be able to create a perfect home office space, where you can be comfortable and productive!

The importance of natural light

When choosing the space you’ll use for your home office it’s important to choose a space that gets a decent amount of natural light.

This is particularly important during the autumn and winter months, as ensuring that you get a good amount of natural light during working hours will help to ward off the symptoms of seasonal depression, and aid your sleep pattern too!

Choose a spot for your desk that’s close to a window, and consider lifting drapes and blinds to allow as much light in as possible while you work.

Add some houseplants

Studies have found that houseplants can help to increase concentration, boost your mood, reduce fatigue, and the symptoms of minor illness, ease feelings of stress, and clean indoor air!

The benefits of houseplants really are fantastic, making them a great addition to your home workspace, and they look good too!

Think ergonomically

It’s extremely important to ensure your workspace is healthy and ergonomic, bad posture can lead to a whole host of health problems, so ensure that you’re set up enables you to sit properly!

Invest in a good, supportive desk chair, and ensure that your monitor is set at eye level, while your keyboard and mouse should also sit at a comfortable height, to ensure that you do not strain your shoulders or neck. It’s also important that your feet rest on the floor, so consider a footstool if your feet don’t naturally reach the floor.

Make it a space you love

Decorate your workspace the way you would decorate any other space in your home. After all, if you’re going to spend 8 hours a day there, you should really make it a space that you like the look of!

Add accessories that will make it a warm, inviting and visually appealing space, think photos, wall hangings, brightly coloured stationery, and maybe a fun patterned cushion for your chair!
