With the new year upon us, there’s no better time to think about freshening up your home’s decor. If you’re thinking about changing things up in your home, but aren’t sure where to start, why not take a look at our handy top tips!

A spot of spring cleaning

Why not start by thinking about your organisation. By rearranging your kitchen cupboards, or having a clearout of old books and DVD’s, you can really make a room feel fresh and organised. Not only that, by rethinking your systems for organisation you make your home work better too, think about rearranging your kitchen cupboards in a way that makes things easier to find, and that puts items that you use for cooking, such as oils and seasoning, within reach of the hob.

Flower power

The new year and the approach of springtime is the perfect time to embrace the outdoors- inside!

Why not invest in some new houseplants? Liven up your shelves and window sills with some small potted plants, or fill an empty corner with a taller one.

If house plants aren’t your thing, think floral. This doesn’t have to mean bouquets of fresh flowers in every room- although it can! Why not try some dried or faux flowers, or some floral accents, think floral wallpaper and cushions

Try upcycling

You can easily and quickly breathe new life into your old furniture with a little bit of upcycling. Why not repaint that old bookcase or bedside table in a bright statement colour, this is a really simple and low cost way to freshen up a room.

Add colour

The best way to really freshen up your decor and prepare for spring is by adding some pops of bright colour. Think lamp shades, cushions and throws, or even a bright table runner. Adding some simple, bright additions in a statement colour can really freshen up a room, with very little effort!

Check your mirrors

Mirrors can really open up and brighten a room, adding a statement mirror to a wall can not only help the flow of light in a room, but also actually make the room appear bigger!
