The perfect chandelier can bring so much to your home, it can provide that perfect finishing touch to a room, while also acting as a fantastic talking point too! Read on for our top tips to ensure that you choose the perfect chandelier for your home…

Size matters

Chandeliers are extremely versatile, however, a good starting point when it comes to choosing the perfect chandelier is to consider the size of the chandelier, in relation to the size of the furniture in the surrounding area.

Considering the scale of the room and how the chandelier will fit into it, will ensure that the chandelier doesn’t overwhelm the room. A good rule of thumb, if your chandelier will be hanging above a table, is to pick one that is around a quarter of the size of the table.

Consider the style

There is a wide range of styles of chandelier on the market now, from more traditional, gothic styles, to modern and contemporary looks. It’s important to consider the look and feel of the room where your chandelier will hang, and ensure that the chandelier is in the same style as the rest of the room. That way your chandelier will fit and compliment the room perfectly!

Find the perfect placement

It’s important to also consider the placement of your chandelier. The higher your ceiling the longer your chandelier will have to hang, as a chandelier that’s placed too high or too low will throw off the balance of your room.

This can be more of a personal decision, based on the shape of your room and the height of your ceiling, however, if you want a rule of thumb to start with, consider hanging your chandelier 6 feet above the floor, or 3 feet above your table.
