Top Picks For Kitchen Lighting

Posted on - 24th June 2022

The kitchen, the heart of the home, the place where we feed our families, for some strange reason the place we go during parties, and generally a room we spend a great deal of time in. With a space that's so versatile and used by every member of the family at some point throughout the day, getting the lighting just right can be a minefield. Here are some of our top picks.

The "I Need To See Everything Clearly"

There are a number of these within our team. The ones who need the brightest lights possible to enable them to see every inch of the kitchen clearly whilst they cook. And we get it!
For this, we are looking for lights, ideally, moveable spotlights, that can have white bulbs, typically LEDs, and are easy to keep clean.
The absolute favourite in our team is the Comet Bar, this particular model has 5 lights but is also available in 3 light bars or circle. Its simple yet stylish design suits most kitchens. Not to mention the price is an absolute steal.
The classic kitchen light bar is the Aries spotlight. Its nice simple design, comprising of 4 lights, is easy to clean and easily moveable to ensure the best light in the room.
If you are looking for a bit of a fun take on the Aries, we have a similar style in the Bubbles spotlight, however, the shades boast a bubble effect. Great for something a little different.
Finally, if you are looking for style, the top pick from our team is the Samson split bar. This allows the two bars to be angled individually. This model also offers a softer beam thanks to its frosted glass, without dulling the lights.

The "It Doesn't Need To Be So Bright"

These are those who the first group would say like to work by candlelight. Where the light in the kitchen is more like mood lighting than a catering environment.
Now, for dimmer lighting in the kitchen, why not take a look at bathroom lights? Not only are they typically that little more of a warm light, but they are also designed to withstand steam in a bathroom, great for when you are cooking.
The Zeus Square light is a great example and is available in black and white to suit any type of kitchen.
We also love the Cheese Bathroom light for a kitchen. Its round design suits any shape of kitchen (as we know square might not look great in an oddly shaped room) and is available with different coloured trim.
Finally, think vintage American diner. Because that is exactly the name of our next light. The American Diner light features a moulded dome available in both chrome and antique brass. Perfect for a more traditional kitchen.

The "Light Up My Breakfast Bar"

Breakfast bars were once a big fashion piece, they were then ditched in favour of a dining room table. However, they are once again back in fashion, with many people looking at how they can focus their lighting over just the bar to create a focal feature.
Our favourite for over the breakfast bar is the Voyager. Featuring 5 stylish bulbs in an attractive casing this light is available in black, chrome and antique brass. Its size fits perfectly over most breakfast bars or even dining room tables.
For a classic appearance, we have the Bistro Bar, this design is easy to clean and is adjustable to suit all ceiling heights.

The "Focus On The Dining Table In My Kitchen-Diner"

When you have a kitchen/dining room all in one, getting the lighting to suit both might now always be the easiest. Particularly as many of us want a more subtle lighting than that in the main food preparation section.
If this sounds like your space, why not consider a different light over your dining table?
We love the Hoopla light for over a table. Paired with the comet bar they can give you two different feels in the room. Not to the Hoopla is dimmable for mood lighting.
We also have the Pyramid Pendant, the stunning shame works great over rectangle tables, and even breakfast bars.
Finally, for a dimmable centre piece that looks stunning over a round table, we have the Ball Round Pendant. Featuring an attractive bulb, this fitting is available in clear glass, antique and smoked, and in three different sizes to suit any room.
