Interior Design Trends For Your Home In 2023

Posted on - 16th February 2023

Every year, trends come and go. At Toons Furnishers, we love staying up-to-date with everything in regards to the world of interior design. So we thought we should share the latest interior design trends in 2023 with you. In this blog article, we’ll give you a run-down of the top 5 trends we are particularly excited about seeing.

1) 70’s Inspired

Kicking it off with the biggest trend, the return of the 70’s. We aren’t talking about the lava lamps and bright shag carpets. Imagine 70’s inspired decor with a modern twist. Look out for vintage furniture pieces, groovy shapes, and velvet fabrics. To achieve the trend, incorporate 70’s inspired statement pieces such as a retro coffee table and colourful, uniquely shaped patterns across your existing modern home decor.

2) Warm Colours

In 2023, we’ll see a shift from cool colours to warm tones. Think terracotta, dusky pinks, mustards, and burnt oranges. These colours will catch passing eyes and create an uplifting mood in a room. For the past few years, neutral colours were very popular. Don’t get us wrong, we still enjoy neutrals, however incorporating warm tones into your home will add both warmth and vibrancy. If you’re not too sure about investing in a large coloured statement piece, a more subtle way to achieve this is through warm toned cushions and throws.

3) Large Brown Furniture

Speaking of warm tones, brown is another colour that is known for warmth. Large brown furniture is suspected to make a comeback in 2023 after it fell out of style decades ago. You could say, we’re warming up to rich chocolate, walnut, and caramel toned wood again! We recommend investing in pieces such as brown wooden sofas or coffee tables to balance out a light-coloured and neutral room.

4) Curves

We’re familiar with the hype of curved furniture, but curving shapes are set to become even more popular in 2023. As we mentioned, the 70's elements will make a comeback and this was the era for curved furniture. Soft curved sofas and armchairs can add dimension. Curved floor lamps can act as a main feature in a corner of a room. Another way to incorporate curves is through patterned rugs that can also double as artwork.

5) Natural Textures

In terms of textures, natural materials such as stone, quartz, marble, and limestone are expected to stay popular in 2023. The use of such materials in modern homes can bring us closer to our natural surroundings, especially in kitchens and bathrooms. Stone baths and flooring in bathrooms can create a spa-like environment. Transforming your bathroom into a ‘spathroom’. For kitchens, look out for stone top dining tables, marble splashbacks, and countertops.
