Interior Design Trends To Watch In 2019

Posted on - 29th May 2019

At Toons Furnishers, we like to keep our fingers on the pulse of what’s hot in interior design right now so we can bring our customers the most up to date trends of the moment. For our latest blog post, we’ve picked 3 of the biggest trends of the year and explained just why they’re so popular right now.

What's hot in 2019?

Monochrome Decor

To be honest, black and white decor never really went out of fashion...but it is enjoying somewhat of a resurgence in 2019. Perhaps it’s because many of us are moving towards modernised living spaces due to technology, or maybe black and white fixtures, fittings and furnishings offer a timeless quality to any room?

Whatever the reason, monochrome is in. And you can get the look too by opting for a fabric sofa in a light colour such as the Alpha Chester range. For those with children or pets, a pure white sofa may not be the most effective addition to your home, but a light cream colour (or even leather!) paired with a darker throw would work all the same to create a monochromatic vibe with an easy to maintain twist.

Geometric Patterns

Geometric patterns are everything in the interior design world at the moment, and they’re a really effective way to inject colour and texture into your home. A really great way to incorporate this up-to-the-minute trend into your decor without too much commitment is with throws and cushions.

Clashing patterns and eclectic decoration is a hot topic, so don’t be afraid to incorporate geometric patterns into your home. Even if you favour florals or vintage chic, a whole range of styles such as honeycomb prints and zigzags will fit seamlessly into your current decor to give a pop of colour and interest that’s easily switched around with minimal fuss.

Natural Elements

Bringing the outdoors inside is hot right now. Many of us want to get more in touch with nature, and that starts with the addition of natural elements to our decor. And there are so many ways to do this that suit budgets both small and large. What’s more, having nature all around us is beneficial to health and wellness, so there really isn’t an excuse not to try this trend if it suits your style.

From the incorporation of houseplants (or even succulents if you’re not very green fingered) to feature wallpaper, it’s super simple to create an illusion of the great outdoors. Blinds, too, are a fantastic way of letting natural light filter through, and can be a fantastic way of decorating large windows without weighing down your decor. Or, for a larger statement, wooden furniture such as a coffee table is a fabulous way of getting in touch with nature, not to mention a practical piece for your room!
