Choosing The Right Mattress From Toons

Posted on - 7th January 2022

If only finding the right mattress was as easy as walking into a store, pointing to a mattress and saying" Yes that's the one for me" paying and walking out the door!
Sadly, that's not the case, and having that method may lead you to some very uncomfortable nights and even some bad backs.

For Back Sleepers

If you are a back sleeper, you will have been told many times that the perfect mattress for you is a firm pocket sprung. However, this is not advised by many experts in recent years. The shift has now turned in favour of a medium to a firm memory foam mattress.
A memory foam mattress allows itself to mould to your shape, with the medium to firm offers your spine increased support. It should be noted that if you are a back sleeper, finding the most appropriate pillow to match your position and mattress is equally as important as finding the right mattress. We recommend the Sweet Dreams Cool Touch Memory 800 Mattress as this helps to keep you not only supported but also cooler when we have hot weather in the summer.

For Side Sleepers

If you are a side sleeper, you know how difficult it is to get comfortable when you don't have a pillow. With the wrong mattress, it doesn't matter if you have the perfect pillow, you will still find yourself uncomfortable, or waking up with a painful shoulder, back or even neck.
For side sleepers, as a general rule, medium to softer mattresses are the best choice. This is due to them being supple enough to mould to your body contours, such as your shoulders and hips, where firm mattresses would not. This moulding offers increased comfort and support to your figure while helping to keep your spine aligned.
Pair a medium to firm mattress with the perfect pillow to get yourself the best night sleep possible. Our favourite mattress for side sleepers is our Dormeo Octasmart Deluxe Mattress, but don't take our word for it, pop into the showroom to give it a try.

For Children

For children, many parents opt for a cheaper mattress, purely on the premise that they may not last very long from either being used as a trampoline or moving onto new and better beds. However, a child's mattress is just as important as your own as it helps ensure the alignment of their spine from an early age.
While firmer mattresses might seem like they will last longer, and in some cases feel like they are more expensive, they are seldom the best choice, particularly for young children.
Softer mattresses offer better support to your child's spine and joints as it allows the mattress to mould to their shape better than a firm would, typically because they are not heavy enough to make an indent in the mattress.
