Warm Up With Winter Curtains

The cold weather is here, windows are firmly closed and fires are roaring. But can you still feel that little draft leaking in from somewhere. It might be time to invest in a good pair of winter curtains. It's also a great excuse to change the accessories in your room to suit the season!

Why invest in winter curtains?

Winter curtains are a great investment for your home, especially if your windows are a little older, or you have gaps around your doors.
Winter curtains are usually significantly thicker than your average summer ones. Complete with a lining they can help to completely block out those cool drafts that usually come from windows in winter. By blocking these drafts out, you can reduce the use of heating within the home as they help to keep the warmth in too.

Where to hang curtains?

The obvious answer here is that we hang curtains around windows right? But how do your curtains sit can change how they keep the warmth in your room. To ensure that your curtains are completely blocking the chance for any draft to creep in, you want floor length where possible. If your radiator sits below your window, you'll already know this will mean you lose heat to the window rather than into the room. In this case we recommend pairing shorter curtains with a stylish radiator cover, which will help to project the heat forwards into the room. If you love the look of floor length, why not include floor length panels either side of your radiator to dress the window.
Have you thought about using curtains over drafty doors? Popping up a simple pole, and some breeze breaking curtains can help to keep the warmth in your room. This works particularly well over older external doors. It can also help to cover otherwise unattractive doors, with stunning colours and prints.
