Using Blinds Around Your Home

When it comes to styles and fashions, we flitter between our love of the classic curtains or the ease and simplicity of a good set of blinds. So when it comes to considering blinds for your home, what styles do we have available, and where do they work best!

Roller Blinds

Roller blinds are the closest set of blinds you can have to curtains, without them actually being curtains. This style of blinds is made from fabric (ranging from soft touch, to wipe clean) which can be rolled down from the top of your window to your window sill or below.
This wonderful style can offer you a nice transition from curtains to blinds as the range of fabrics is just as vast as our curtains. This includes bold colours and patterns down to simple neutral colours. This style of blinds works great in kitchens and bathrooms, not only thanks to the ease of opening and closing but as the steam/water vapour in the air can make things like dust stick to alternative blinds, whereas these have no slats to collect dust.

Roman Blinds

Similar to roller blinds are very similar to roller blinds when they are down at full extension. However, when they are raised, they are designed to pleat, leaving you a drop of fabric at the top of the window when they are opened.
Again, like roller blinds, they can be made up of a range of different fabrics across a variety of colours, styles and patterns.
This style of blind, similarly to curtains, can help you to add an element of style and personality to your window by way of the fabric that remains at the top of the window.
We advise you to avoid using this style of blinds if you have small opening windows at the top of your window as this style can completely cover them, even when open.

Venetian Blinds

This style of blinds is typically the usual one that you find in many homes. From living room windows, kitchens and as an easy alternative to curtains in your bedroom. They are available in a selection of block colours to suit most rooms, and even in different materials including wood, to give your room a different feel.
This style has been popular for many years and has no view of slowing down. They are a great choice for any room in the house, and even the conservatory, however, as we previously mentioned, we would advise looking at an alternative for your kitchen or bathroom.

Vertical Blinds

Vertical blinds have increased and decreased and increased in popularity over the last thirty years. But we can't see why they would ever decrease!
Typically they are seen in living rooms and bedrooms, but can be used in any room of the house, and even work great for full-length windows, such as patio doors.
This style of blinds are usually available in neutral colours but have increasingly been seen in brighter and bolder colours, meaning there is now a style for everyone.
As the only vertical blinds readily available on the market, they are great for making your window slimmer rather than shallower, great if the sun is glaring on your screen but you don't want to shut the blinds fully. This also makes them a great choice for offices.
