March is The Sleep Council’s National Bed Month!

Every year the aim of National Bed Month is to remind us of the importance of getting a good night’s sleep, and to educate and spread awareness about the impact of good sleep habits on our health. 

Getting good sleep can work wonders for your health, happiness and overall sense of wellbeing, and it’s even thought that sleeping well can actually extend your life expectancy!

 

The importance of sleep 

Sleep is essential for your overall health, lack of sleep can result in problems with memory and concentration, and increased stress levels. 

Getting enough sleep can also help to strengthen your immune system, aid your heart health, help you to maintain a healthy weight, and take care of your emotional wellbeing and mental health. 

It’s generally recommended that to get an adequate amount of rest, healthy adults require between seven and nine hours of sleep a night.
