When you are looking to modernise your bathroom there are a number of considerations that you need to make in order to have a bathroom that will be with you for many years to comes. Here we have a number of tips to make sure your bathroom is perfect.

Think Functional

Renovating your existing bathroom can be an exciting time. It's quite often the room that gets left untouched for the longest, with most of us boasting an out of date bathroom. So when the time finally comes around, we can find ourselves getting carried away with the aesthetics of the space and lose track of the overall functionality.
Our bathrooms have pretty standard functional uses, a toilet, a sink and a bath or shower facility. But how you use the space overall can differ.
Before racing ahead and looking at bathroom suites, take notes of what you need to be able to do. For example, if you have, or are planning, young children, having just a walk-in shower rather than a bath can make bath times that little bit more interesting. Likewise, if you struggle to get in and out of the bath, a walk-in shower could be the right move.
There are also the smaller aspects of functionality, such as mirrors over sinks (handy tip is to invest in anti-fog mirrors) and shaving ports in appropriate places if you use them (remember, most electric toothbrushes also use this style of plug).

Think Design

As we have already mentioned, the bathroom is the room that is often left untouched or undecorated, for many years. And when we do, we often just add a lick of paint to any walls we have or swap out the towels for a new colour. With this in mind, when you are investing in a new bathroom for the long term, consider the design.
Here you have the option of sticking to a classic and timeless design that never really ages, or following the latest bathroom trends and just tweaking it to suit your own style. Whichever you opt for, be prepared to be in it for the long haul.
There have been periods where colour has been incorporated into the design of a bathroom (need we mention the avocado bathroom suites of the 60's and 70's?) they

Above all, consider the right bathroom for you. Whether that means it's easy to access, full of colour, or nice and simple. A new bathroom is a big investment that should be well-thought-out. So remember to take your time and consider all the options before making your final decision.
