Does your House Feel Bare when you Take Down your Decorations?

We’ve all been there- that post Christmas crash. The house really can feel empty once all of your decorations have been tucked back up in the attic.

Once the cosiness of Christmas has passed the weather just feels dreary, and the house just feels cold, but fear not! Follow our top tips and embrace some post-Christmas winter decor!

Embrace the emptiness

First off, it’s impossible to stop your home feeling a little bit empty once all of those bright and warm decorations have been taken down. However, what you can do is embrace the emptiness- consider it a clean slate, and an opportunity to change up your decor now that the new year has rolled in.

Don’t feel the need to immediately fill every gap that’s been left open by the removal of your decorations, instead, take the opportunity to take a step back and reflect on your space. Could your room work better if you moved some furniture around?

Keep the fairy lights and fur

It’s still winter after all. Don’t rush to pack away all of your fairy lights, twinkling gold lights look good all year round, and can really add some warmth to a room, particularly during the winter.

Think fur, whether it’s cushions, throws or a rug, a few little accents of fur can add warmth and softness to your room, while maintaining a nice cosy winter feel.

Invest in some neutral candles

Get rid of the red, patterned, Christmas themed candles and scents, but keep the neutral, winter themed scents out. Think neutrally coloured candles with scents like vanilla, pine and cedarwood, but ditch the cinnamon, gingerbread and pumpkin spice till next year!

Consider a finishing touch

Consider whether a final finishing touch could help to complete your room, think a lovely fresh bouquet of flowers, or perhaps you could put a centrepiece together with some seasonal dried flowers, or even a neutral wreath.
