Re-flooring Your Conservatory This Summer

Posted on - 14th May 2021

When summer rolls back around, we find ourselves heading out into the garden and the conservatory more and more. This year, you might have noticed that your current flooring is starting to look a little tired or outdated, or maybe, you just fancy a spruce up of the space! So what flooring is best for your conservatory?

Laminate

A firm favourite for many people in their conservatory is high-quality laminate flooring. Laminate is commonly chosen thanks to it being hard-wearing, easy to clean and temperature friendly nature. With the conservatory being the portal to the garden during the summer, you find that more things are walked in, especially if you have children or four-legged visitors, this means that you will benefit from something easy to clean. This will also help in the winter if you use your conservatory to get into your garden all year round.
Our conservatories can get warm over the summer, thanks to the sun beating down on the glass, so any flooring that you invest in will need to be suitable to withstand the heat. The Quick-Step laminate has been approved for use with underfloor heating. This means that it is suitable for use in hot conservatories. It is also scratch-resistant which make it a great choice if you are using your conservatory as a dining room where you will be pulling chairs in and out.

Luxury Vinyl Tiles (LVT)

Many years ago, vinyl flooring was seen as a cheap and easy flooring to lay in many rooms but typically seen in kitchens and bathrooms. Its hardwearing and easy clean nature made it a really popular choice. With the advances in flooring, we have progressed to offer Luxury Vinyl Tiles. These hardwearing tiles have been developed using multiple layers of vinyl, which increases their lifespan, and offers extra comfort underfoot (great for the kids). The great thing about this style of flooring is the vast range of styles and patterns that are available. Meaning you can suit it to any room.

Rugs

If you are having a hard floor in your conservatory, sometimes it's nice to break it up with a nice plush rug. Rugs are an easy and cost-effective way to spruce up your flooring. It helps you to add a touch of design and colour at a fraction of the cost. It also allows you to have a softer space in the room which is great for kids.
Including a rug in your conservatory can also help to disperse some of the heat from the flooring. With the sun through the windows heating up the floor it can become warm or hot, the rug will help to break up this impact, and also offer you a cooler place to stand.

Carpets

Many people shy away from having a carpet fitted in their conservatory due to it usually opening into the garden. However, providing you aren't walking in dirt or debris, a carpet can be a great choice for the space.
A carpet will not heat up as much as some hard flooring, which means if you are going barefoot, your feet will be safer. It offers a softer walking alternative, which can be nice underfoot, when enjoying the summer, without the need to go out into the garden.
If you are ever concerned about bringing in anything from outside, you can always invest in a matt or rug near to the doors which can be easily cleaned.
