The Interior Design Lessons We Learned From Mrs Hinch

Posted on - 14th October 2019

Not too long ago, Instagrammer Mrs Hinch took the world by storm with her love for cleaning and an immaculate home. Since then, house proud individuals across the globe have used her social media feed for inspiration when decorating their home.

And while the influencer may have not long welcomed her first baby into the world and released her first book, a quick scroll of her grid shows us she’s still the interior design guru we’ve been waiting for our entire lives! In this post, we’ll pull together our favourite home looks from Mrs Hinch, and give you a few tips on how you can incorporate them into your decor.

Clean Lines & Simple Colour Schemes

A quick scroll through Mrs Hinch’s instagram feed shows us a LOT of grey and white. And for her home, it absolutely works. This palette of neutrals combined with clean lines creates a modern, contemporary feel that is perfectly balanced with the addition of different textures such as rugs, throws and scatter cushions.

Her satin effect fabric sofas in grey combined with these subtle finishing touches create a cohesive yet attractive finish that we can’t get enough of.

While white and grey may not be everyone’s cup of tea, the idea of sticking to a colour scheme made up of two simple tones is really effective. Mrs Hinch has co-ordinated everything from soft furnishings to the television stand and storage boxes!

Finishing Touches Make All The Difference

Mirrors have the fantastic ability to make spaces look both bigger and brighter, which is exactly what Mrs. Hinch has done in her home. When it comes to finishing touches, less is definitely more - but remember to put your stamp on things! Try to keep surfaces uncluttered and symmetrical and definitely deploy a mirror in your darker rooms. This works even better if you can place on opposite a window to reflect light around the room.

Make Your Layout Flow

The placement of your furniture matters. And ensuring you maintain a ‘flow’ of natural movement through the room makes for a better finish. Before you furnish a room or rearrange your furniture, take note of how you use the room. For example, in the bedroom, it's important to have a clear walkway to your side of the bed and enough space for your bedside table too! Keeping a gap between the bed frame and table will also prevent it from being knocked around while your sleeping or getting in.

Bedside lamps in your room can also create a lovely glow in the evening that’s less glaring than your main light. Even better, you don’t have to get out of bed to switch it off when you’re all warm and cosy.

You Can Save Space & Be Stylish

Space is a premium in many homes. And Mrs Hinch is no exception! In her dining room, the extending dining table is tucked away into the recess of the bay window, creating more floor space while providing a space for family meals. Her wooden dining table also works effortlessly with the grey/white colour scheme, bringing a little more warmth to the room. It is, of course, effortlessly decorated with a mirrored tray and white faux flowers for a clean yet homely finish.
