About Silentnight

Silentnight beds and mattresses know the secret to a good night's sleep. Silentnight have become one of the UK's most well-known and famous bed brands and continue to grow. Silentnight research has found that up to 75% of people are not getting a good night's sleep, it is the aim of Silentnight to prevent this and not solely act as bed manufacturers, additionally, Silentnight wants to be providers of a good night's sleep. Famous for their hippo and duck characters, Silentnight spends and invest a lot of time in developing the best mattresses and beds, which has kept them at the forefront of the bed industry for many years.

Silentnight beds and mattresses were founded in Skipton, North Yorkshire back in 1946 by Tom and John Clarke, the company was originally called Clarke's Mattresses Limited. Then in 1951, the company had a makeover and changed its name to Silentnight by the 1960s the company was expanding at such a fast pace that has to move premises to which is still the Silentnight site today. The company continued to grow and in the mid 1980s, Silentnight created a new type of spring system called the "ultimate spring system" which then become "Miracoil". Since then Silentnight has continued to grow to become the brand we know and love.
